60's PARTY – LEEDS
Celebrating the client’s 60th birthday, the theme for this event
was ‘The Swinging Sixties’.
Giant hangings, digitally
reproduced from photographs taken of Carnaby Street shop fronts
from the sixties, were hung around the perimeter of the marquee
to re-create the feel and the buzz of London at that time. Specially
printed Op Art fabric was screen printed and draped around the stage
area, and made into slash curtains, to section off the corridor
to the toilets. The black and white theme was maintained by using
a chequerboard dance floor and black carpeting throughout.
Other detailing was in
the banners depicting fashions and designers from the era, such
as Mary Quant. Special effects in lighting were created by projecting
news film footage from each year of the decade onto the centre of
each table – a unique form of table décor! A performance by the
‘Bootleg Beatles’ completed this fancy dress event.
