AFRICAN PARTY – NOTTINGHAM
This flamboyant extravaganza was in celebration of a joint 25th
Wedding anniversary, 21st and 18th birthdays. The client's business
is in owning and running a safari lodge in Botswana, so this formed
the theming of the event.
A marquee measuring 30mts
x 20mts was transformed with planting & palm trees, coir flooring,
a wooden dance floor and huge banners of sunsets and moon rises
over the Savannah desert. Huge wooden silhouettes of elephants,
giraffes, puma and impala were strategically placed outside in the
garden, behind ‘windows' in the marquee walls. These were backlit
at night to enhance the silhouettes. The entrance to the marquee
was defined by a replica African Ceremonial Gateway. The bar and
DJ booth were transformed using masks and brushwood, to make them
into African Rondavels.
Standard marquee seating
was cleverly disguised beneath leopard print chair covers! Indoor
fireworks and a dramatic drum roll and ‘reveal' kicked off the event,
and the drama was continued with a performance by the Black Eagles
acrobat troop.
